I don't know, and I don't mean to confuse you, but keep this in mind when setting up commands. On the other hand, I've got 3 finger swipe commands in JiTouch, so maybe JiTouch overrides the Apple commands, or maybe it sends both, and if there are no pages to turn, it uses JiTouch's command. I'm not sure if this is critical, but it seems like two fingers got in the way of JiTouch. Swipe between pages - Mine is set to three fingers. They don't interfere with JiTouch as far as I know. The other settings on this page are up to you.Unless you want to scroll faders in the opposite direction all the time, turn this off. Not a setting, but always remember to rock the fingers for detail work.Keep tracking speed on the slower side or you will lose control of the cursor for detail work.Clicks still work, of course, and sometimes taps don't work (no idea why or when). That gets in the way of JiTouch functions. Here are some suggestions for setting up the Apple Trackpad System Settings: Mine is set on the 4th click from the left. That can help if your gestures aren't working. Vertical or horizontal in DP, it just flies! Also great for zooming in DP. Nothing I can think of that would improve it. Scrolling? That's just a Magic Trackpad thing. I've thought of doing that, but really when I'm working in DP, both hands are in position, so it's no problem to use the Tool commands with my left-hand. All it needs is a command for typing a letter, such as R, twice. You can program tool selections using QuicKeys. (I don't have any sequences under it, as far as I can remember, but it's doable.) With QuicKeys you can use it for menu commands or sequences. There doesn't seem to be any point in trying to program commands that involve a tap on one key on the keyboard (and if I have it right, you can't program tool selections anyway).īays, I use it for any task that bugs me to do it the original way, or anything that I just want to do with one hand. What type of commands did you program into jitouch? I've programmed a few navigation commands involving various combinations of modifiers and characters and would require you to let go of the mouse. Do you have some additional gestures set up to improve scrolling beyond that? I did make quite a bit of progress yesterday, and I'll stick with it for as long as progress is apparent.Ī couple of questions: you mention scrolling - the trackpad is pretty good for scrolling without jitouch. Like DP itself, it's one of those things that I still pause to consider now and then, that the future has arrived, and it's a good thing. I don't need for people to use what I use, but I'd love for everyone to be as happy with their tools as I am with the Magic Trackpad. While recognizing that everyone's different, I wouldn't make such a fuss over this thing if I didn't think the payoff is great. That hasn't happened in a long time, and I've never seen it just refuse to work. I just opened the preferences pane, and it was right back again. As for stability and reliability, JiTouch has gone offline unintentionally about 3 or 4 times since I've had it. I just can't imagine using anything else, other than a Wacom for drawing. I've looked at all the options out there. ![]() Within a month it'll be 2nd nature.Īnd scrolling in DP? There's nothing else like it. Your technique on the Trackpad DEFINITELY will improve within a few days to the point that you don't have to think so hard about it. I suggest using as many of the regular gestures as possible and saving the characters for memes that just suggest themselves. They don't have to be perfect, just enough that it recognizes them. I use my index finger and ring finger, like a major third on piano, to draw the characters. Characters have to be a little more centered, because your fingers have to be spaced just right. You have to commit for at least a week, maybe a month. Shooshie wrote:Bayswater, it's just my opinion, but I think it'll be worth it.
